Welcome to Christina's website! Christina is a Licensed Marriage Family Therapist in Private Practice with an office located in the beautiful Channel Islands Harbor.  She holds a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, graduated in the top three of her class and has been noted numerous times in Marquis Who's Who of American Women.  Christina is a former advice columnist for The Highland Community News and, for many years, wrote a monthly psychological feature column for Inland Empire Magazine prior to her return to Ventura County.  In June 2006, she was invited to be an Ambassador of Marriage and Family Therapy in China. Ms. Steinorth offers individual, couple and family psychotherapy.  Her specialties include:  Communication Skills Coaching, Premarital and Pre-engagement Counseling, and the treatment of Anxiety, Depression, Relationship Issues (including Couples Counseling), Adolescents and Geriatrics (Aging related issues as well as caregiving concerns). Other specialties include working with Life Stage Transition issues, Grief and Loss Counseling, Stress Management, Time Management and working with Women's Issues. Assertiveness training is offered as well. Face-to face, Internet (on-line chat), phone sessions and E-mail responses to specific questions (i.e., questions where you feel professional feedback may help) are available treatment options.  Please keep in mind that Internet and phone therapy may not be as effective as "face-to-face" therapy because it is not as thorough.  "In-person" therapy gives the therapist a chance to observe body language and facial expressions both of which may sometimes be very powerful tools in conducting counseling.  Many recent studies however report individuals have experienced positive outcomes from Internet/phone therapy.  The same studies have also shown that many people even prefer this method because of the increased feeling of privacy, convenience and comfort of being able to access counseling services at practically any hour without ever leaving home.  One point to always keep in mind is that even though Internet/On-line Counseling may give the feeling of increased privacy, unfortuanately privacy and confidentiality cannot be guaranteed due to individuals who may "hack" websites and obtain information an individual would prefer to keep confidential. Face-to-face psychotherapy sessions may be arranged during normal business hours. The hourly rate for "In-person" therapy (at Christina's office) is $300.00.  Payment for sessions is due at the time of your appointment and may be made by cash, check or money order.  (Please note that as of January 3, 2008 there is currently a three month waiting list for an appointment time.)
